WWRC Experience…

I’ve been back-and-forth between my decision, rather if I should tell a sugarcoated version or the actual truth. This entry is not to deter anyone from not attending the facility at all. I’m speaking from my experience alone, Wilson workforce rehabilitation center(WWRC) in Fishersville, Virginia. It’s a wonderful facility, but also there are a lot of entities. A person should know before they begin on that journey.

First, there is a two-year, waiting list, possibly more depending on what you are qualified to do at WWRC. During my evaluation, it was a week evaluation to see if you are a good fit to attend the facility. I’ve experienced sexism you will really have to be your own advocate. Fast forward within the next two years I was able to attend the facility. I met some wonderful people and also experienced a lot of racism. Within the time of my experience within the facility, I’ve experienced. The majority of the staff are older, and they have seemed as if they have lost their passion for the career path.

Meaning, some other staff members aren’t really willing to listen to the client wants and desires. This is a very bad entity because it gives a perception, as if every staff member will proceed the same way. That’s not the case not all the staff members proceed in this particular manner. Also in my experienced, I’ve observed the demographic in the facility needs to have more diversity. I will say the facility that’s provide a steppingstone for clients who need comprehension of basic every day living.

Also, when it comes to being able to have a career path. The facility provides a good structure, depending on the type of career path that person chooses to obtain. I do recommend the facility do better within the career paths. Meaning, when a client or student attends the program the facility needs to do better regarding making sure the client is able to obtain a career before they actually leave the facility. So that the client can feel as if they achieved what they were planning when they attended the facility.

In my experience from my time being at the facility, I seen a lot of people leave, but they don’t have the career opportunity lined up when they leave the facility. I am leaving a lot of stuff out in this blog purposely because of the fact, I want to make sure I don’t deter anyone from that attending the facility. This is just my experience from attending the facility. Also, I met a lot of great people who are my friends today. I had a lot of experiences that I wouldn’t had if I didn’t go to the facility.

Given that reason I want people to know and understand if you want to attend WWRC go ahead. It’s a great experience, if you are willing to undergo waiting the two year waitlist or more then you’re in good hands. Always be an advocate for yourself within WWRC. Overall, WWRC is a wonderful place and I wish future clients nothing but the best and many achievements. You will have a wonderful time and experience.

Until next time,
